Lufthansa Sports Corner: Live coverage of all games for Lufthansa lounge guests in Frankfurt

On the dot for the kick-off at the World Cup, Lufthansa’s first “Sports Corner” will be opening its doors when the competition starts on 11 June 2010. Initially for all passengers with HON Circle and Senator-Status, as well as those travelling First Class, an exclusive area has been set aside in Departure Area B in Terminal 1 for coverage of the big event on TV. The “Football Corner”, equipped with bistro, high tables and 70 seats, re-creates the big-match atmosphere for fans awaiting flights at the airport: Quaffing freshly tapped draught beer, with a choice of chips, nuts, hotdogs or nachos savoured with dips, they can now watch all the World Cup games on large flat-screen TVs.

A further Sports Corner will be opened a few days later in Departure Area A for Business Class passengers and Frequent Travellers. Equipped with more than 50 seats and easily accessible through the Business Lounge at Gate A26, it will allow soccer fans and others with a passing interest to view the matches live on a variety of flat screens.

The Lufthansa “Sports Corners“ will remain permanent fixtures after the FIFA 2010 World Cup, as attractive add-ons to the other lounge amenities on offer at Frankfurt Airport. They will then be available to passengers, imparting a sporty flair to the Airport’s many other attractions, and assuring them of flat-screen coverage of all major events in the sporting calendar during their travels
